SLJ-Scaling new heights

For this activity I researched about the SPCA because I really like animals. So then I wrote about what they do and how you can help. 

SLJ-Burning Up…

SLJ-Stranger than Fiction

SLJ-Mighty Mangroves

My Dad is strong because he can speak up for himself. He can lift a huge bunny hutch without dropping it. He never cries when someone hurts him physically or emotionally. He lefts lots of furniture. So he's really strong. 

SLJ-The Secretive Skink

Pros of being a DOC ranger:
1. protecting animals 
2. being responsible
3. having an excuse to have lots of pets

Cons of being a DOC ranger:
1. it would get frustrating
2. when you have a headache it would get worse with animal noises
3. it would be harder in summer because you are hot

SLJ-Towering Timbers

I think logging should not be allowed in New Zealand because:
1. there is less oxygen for us humans
2. animals have to find other places to live
3. birds will have to  make their nests on the ground and predators can get their egg easily
4. Some animals will go extinct
that's why I don't support logging   

SLJ-Surfs Up!

I love swimming in summer because it is a great way to cool of and have fun I like swimming a my pool because I can always go, I also like Massey Park Pools but my pool's better.

What they are doing: building snow banks so they can give birth in them
What success are they having?: the seals are starting to have their babies in them

SLJ-North and South

I think my home town is great fun because we have 2 playgrounds, at one of the playgrounds there is monkey madness I enjoy the challenge of going on all of them after the other. At the other playground there is a long twisty slide and a great area to play hide and seek be hide all the climbing walls and tall platforms.

My home town is also great because it has great bike tracks. Steep and winding roads, good beautiful scenery and wacky stake parks.

So that's why my home town is great.

SLJ-Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I would go hiking because it would be fun to do with family and friends. I also like going outdoors and getting some fresh air. 

SLJ-The Seven Sisters

The seven sisters was about eight boys (counting Mitai) In the story Mitai and his brothers found  girls, they all had shining gold hair., they all fell in love except Mitai. The brothers took the sisters back to the village to make them their wives. They stop caring about themselves and started caring about their wife's. All the wives disappeared  so Mitai found out that he had to watch to find out where they went.  Mitai saw 6 birds sitting in a tree then another one flew out of the house to join them, Mitai followed them. Mitai heard that they wanted to starve Mitai's brothers, Mitai told his brothers they didn't care. then Mitai said,
"You guys use to be Strong and handsome now you so skinny" 
the brothers bevelled him. they decided to catch them in nets, and put them far from earth. each of the brothers caught their wives and gave them to Mitai, Mitai flew into the sky as an albatross and gave them to Uru-te-ngangara and Uru-te-ngangara took them to put them far far away. To this day you can see the seven sisters once a year in the sky.

SLJ-Restricted Access

I think it's not fair that  tourists who want to see Machu picchu, because they won't end up going. If they already bought plane tickets and you're saying they can't come that's just wasting their money. They also might of wanted to come here for a long time. That's not fair is it.

SLJ-Adoption Day

Animals I would adopt:
Koala
Elephant
Hare

Differences: 
Sizes
2 have fur the others don't
from different places

Same:
Big ears
They are all mammals
land animals

I would most likely to adopt a Hare.

This is my slogan, I'm supporting The Forest & Bird organisation.

SLJ-Faded Glory

Things I would do to preserve the Great Barrier Reef:
1. Sell plants and trees
2. bake ocean themed cupcakes
3. Have a beach day fundraiser Eg; pick up litter, help beach whales\any type of sea life.

SLJ-Gardians of the Sea

I think the taniwha is fake because the video when they thought the taniwha blew a bubble. Realistically it could be a big school of fish. Also the story sounds a bit like ones about dragons and unicorns, so that isn't very realistic either. When it says if you go in the river you will get eaten by the taniwha.

So that's why I think the taniwha is fake, but is's fine if you disagree I don't mind.

SLJ-The Plastic Pledge

I think it is great that Countdown has gone plastic bag free. Hopefully it helps with clearing up global warming a bit. It's also great because sea life won't be eating as much plastic bags. I think every super market should do this. 

SLJ-A Protective Plant

At my house we always plant veggies every year! This year we've planted:
Strawberries
Cucumber
Beans
Carrot
Grapes
Parsley 
Rosemary
Mint
Rocket
Tomatoes
