I think the taniwha is fake because the video when they thought the taniwha blew a bubble. Realistically it could be a big school of fish. Also the story sounds a bit like ones about dragons and unicorns, so that isn't very realistic either. When it says if you go in the river you will get eaten by the taniwha.
So that's why I think the taniwha is fake, but is's fine if you disagree I don't mind.

Can you tell me what you mean when you say "because the video when they thought the taniwha blew a bubble"? Is this because you think that it could be anything else making the bubbles?
I like how you mention that the story about the taniwha sounds similar to other fairy tales that you've heard about, and this is also why you think it may be fake.
